Karaoke and Yakitori on tap for Roxbury fundraiser

Had enough of winter? Irritable? Listless? What better way to say goodbye to winter and welcome the renewal of spring, than to gather with friends for a great time? On Saturday, March 30, the Friends of Main Street will be hosting the first ever Sip and Sing event, building upon the successful Soup and Sip event held last December. This time it is Karaoke, Yakitori, Sushi, Sake, Beer and Wine—the recipe for a fabulous evening in Roxbury.

The event begins at 6pm at the Roxbury Art Center on Vega Mountain Rd in Roxbury. DJ Pat Del will be on hand working the crossfader and cue and prodding event goers to take their place in the spotlight—and, let’s face it, there will be plenty of tunes for dancing too! Special volunteer chefs will be grilling yakitori skewers and rolling California sushi and celebrity bartenders will be pouring wine, beer and sake. All to benefit the Roxbury Beautification Fund.

The Friends of Main Street alongside the MARK Project and in coordination with the Town of Roxbury, Roxbury Arts Group and Greater Roxbury Business Association are working hard to put funds in place for several Beautification projects. First on tap is to purchase commercial hanging baskets to replace the planters that are in dire need of replacement. The plan is to line the entirety of  Main Street (spurring off to Bridge and Vega Mountain) with hanging baskets mounted to the existing street light poles—that’s a lot of planters! Help!

Tickets to the event are $30 or two for $50 which includes admission to the event, two complimentary yakitori skewers and one complimentary beverage. Additional food and beverage available for purchase. There will be an opportunity to nominate someone to sing with a donation of $5 so if you know someone that you wanna spotlight, now is your chance. A 50/50 drawing and a very special silent auction all play a role in the fun. Remember, all proceeds go to Roxbury Beautification.

Reservations to this event are a must and can be made by calling the MARK Project at 845 586 3500 or emailing chelsea@markproject.org. Can’t make the event? Please send a donation to the MARK Project with Roxbury Beautification in the memo, PO Box 516, Arkville, NY 12406. Or on markproject.org via pay pal.
